BIOL& 160 General Biology with Lab 5 CR This course provides introduction to basic concepts of biology, with an emphasis on the cells as the fundamental unit of life. Topics include cell structure, basic chemical and biochemical concepts, metabolism, cell division, principles of genetics, biological diversity, and methods of scientific inquiry and critical thinking. This course establishes the foundation necessary for continued biology study, especially in human anatomy and physiology. Lab included. Prerequisite(s): Fall Quarter 2024 - Accuplacer Reading Comprehension score of 85 or RDG 085 with a B or higher, and Accuplacer Sentence Skills score of 86 or ENGL 092 with a B or higher or AENGL 100 with a C or higher, and Accuplacer Algebra score of 75 or MATH 098 with a C or higher.
Starting Winter Quarter 2024 - Placement into ENGL 101 or completion of ENGL 095 with a B or higher or AENGL 100 with a C or higher and placement into MATH 099 or completion of MATH 098 with a C or higher.
